The 3rd Annual Reedsburg Rumble, an event that brings the top racers from throughout Wisconsin and surrounding areas took place this past weekend under extremely cloudy and rainy conditions. Mother nature played her part in the Rumble this weekend teasing us Friday with picture perfect weather only to take it away and replace it with clouds, cold and light rain all day. Even though the forecast called for rain all day Saturday almost 100 drivers showed up for the annual event. Due to the forecast of heavy rain for the day, we started the day very early with a 9am start time, this early start was the key to us getting 99% of the event in. As the day progressed, a light drizzle fell on us for most of the day which made for a bit of a cold atmosphere but it actually worked to the racers benefit as the track was the absolute best you could hope for. Not muddy at all, just damp and full of traction.

Protoform were in contact to inform us of a milestone event that happened at last months Reedy Race of Champions in California. For approximately 10 years now every winner of every world class electric sedan event has seen the A-Main winning car donning some sort of Dodge Stratus or Mazda 6 style of race body. This decade old winning streak seems to have finally ended as Ronald Volker not only TQ’ed but won the RROC using a body that looked more like that of a Lexus IS-F. This year’s Reedy USA event was the first major event for the recently introduced Protoform LTC-R race body. Hupo Honigl backed up the bodies performance by finishing an excellent 4th place overall. Ronald’s big win at the Reedy Race is in fact something that’s starting to look like a bit of a tradition when it comes to the debuting of all-new Protoform sedan bodies. Barry Baker debuted the game changing Protoform Mazda 6 at the Reedy Race in Thailand with a win in 2004 and a couple of years later Craig Drescher won the Reedy Race in southern California while debuting the then all-new Protoform Dodge Stratus 3.0 race body.

Based on the stock B44 4wd buggy hubs, they have a larger outside bearing for increased performance and bearing longevity, while a set screw holds the hingepin in place with access from the bottom. With four possible vertical ballstud locations for increased setup adjustments, these blocks are designed to add 1/2 degree rear toe in. Available in hard silver color, they have been CNC machined for accuracy, and laser engraved with degrees and L or R for left or right sides.

We received the terrible news out of Italy that fire has ripped through the GRP Gandini factory in Guidizzolo, Italy last night. Thick, and i’m sure toxic, smoke fueled by plastic in the building filled the air around the blaze. Needless to say this is a massive set back for the manufacturer and their employees, but thankfully it seems no one was hurt and the Gandini brothers will hopefully rebuild. We will keep you informed of any updates. |

Last weekend saw the 2009 running of the annual Reedy Race of Champions, held once again at Speedworld Raceway & Hobbies in Roseville, California. This years event was lacking some international stars, who due to various reasons couldnt make it, however there were some Europeans in action as well as the best that the US has to offer. Due to the reduced numbers, the usual Reedy format for the invitational class had to be tweaked and so qualifying was based on 2 best runs from 4, with the top 21 going into the invitational class event where the 2 best runs from 4 would decide the winner. Following the qualifying sessions, it was new Yokomo signing Ronald Volker from Germany, in his first race with the car, that would take the TQ spot ahead of Xray star Paul Lemieux. Sunday’s 4 races would see some close racing but it was both Ronald Volker and Finand’s Juho Levanan who would be battling it out for the overall win going into the final run of the day. Both drivers managed to take a win, but with both drivers having 2 wins after 2 dropped runs the decider would go the way of qualifying, and so it would be Volker that emerged on top, with Juho taking 2nd, and Associated team mate Rick Hohwart on the final podium spot in 3rd. |

Answer-RC have released a number of new option parts for the Losi 8ight buggy and truggy. First up is this aluminium flywheel which provides an excellent alternative to the original Losi item. Wider knurling increases contact with the starter box making for easier cranking of that tight motor. Precision machined comes with special Losi size low depth collet. Other clutch items include a new tempered flywheel nut for the losy clutch system as well as precision CNC machined pins for the Losi clutch system that use a special slot rather than the original hex design meaning no more stripped hex fittings on the pins. Finally for the same range of cars are some precision CNC machined shock spring holders, which utilise a longer spring holder to give a more reliable and safer position on the shock. Specially drilled for minimum weight, each piece weighs only 3grams, they are sold in a packet of 4. |

Revelation Raceway played hosted to the Associated Memorial Race last weekend and it attracted all the big names from the SoCal area. The format was to run 10 minute qualifiers, with a 30 min truck final and 40 min buggy final. Adam Drake TQd both rounds of qualifying in both the buggy and truck class, snatching the buggy TQ by 6 seconds and the truck TQ by 13 seconds. In the finals it was the same story, with The Drake winning the buggy class with his Novarossi powered Losi by 7 seconds from Ryan Maifield, with Associated team mate Ryan Cavalieri in 3rd. In the truggy class, Adam took the win, this time by over a lap margin from O’Donnell racer Taylor Peterson in 2nd and Losi driver Chris Burling in 3rd |

From K-Factory for the Team Magic B8, comes this new one-piece engine mount. Machined from a single block of high grade aluminium, its design ensures that both wings of the engine mount are perfectly aligned to reduce any possible pressure on the engine crankcase. In addition, both upper & lower sides of the mount are leveled by CNC machine to ensure full contact with the chassis and engine, while the block’s multi-fin design helps improve heat dissipation.

Novarossi have announced that they have 2 new off road manifolds available which have been made with a tighter bend. By doing so, the drivers who have the latest Mugen buggy can now use Novarossi manifolds without problems. The 2 new manifolds feature a similar length as their currenly available 41020 and 41021 manifolds but due to the tighter curve they are more compact. Available in short and long versions.
